Rowan team for the COMAP Mathematical Contest in Modeling achieves honors

This year's Rowan team for the COMAP Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) was rated "Meritorious Winner," which placed them in the top 15% out of 2,775 entries from around the world. The team consisted of Malik Ahmed (Mathematics and Computer Science double-major), Jennifer Hoxworth (Mathematics major), and Jacqueline (Jackie) Huynh (Mathematics major). Dr. Christopher Lacke served as the team's advisor.
For their specific problem, only three teams from U.S. schools (Eastern Oregon University, the U.S. Military Academy, and Roanoke College) placed ahead of the Rowan team. Teams that Rowan outperformed came from schools such as the US Air Force Academy, Harvard, Union College, Harvey Mudd, Tufts University, the Illinois Institute of Technology, Brown, University of Pennsylvania, Grinnell, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, the University of Illinois, Duke, Princeton, WPI, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, RPI, Johns Hopkins, and MIT.
