Health Professions
Starting the Application Process Medical (MD and DO) programs utilize a central application service. Consult their websites for instructions and due dates. (http://www.aamc.org/audienceamcas.htm for MD, http://www.aacom.org/people/colleges/Pages/AppsDue.aspx for DO, http://www.adea.org/AADSAS/default.htm for DDS). These services report to your designated schools. After you submit your application through the above services, you need to prepare for your “secondary” or invited applications – the information you send to each individual school. As you begin assembling your application packet, you will need to provide the committee with some information about you:
You should also download the form called Evaluation Request and provide a copy of it to each person who agrees to write you a letter/evaluation. My contact information is on the top of this form. Likewise, I can provide business cards for you to distribute to your off-campus contacts. Matters of courtesy: When you ask for an evaluation or recommendation, come prepared with your resume and transcript printed for the individual. If you have anything else you would like the recommender to see (like a personal statement or your questionnaire for the committee), have those documents printed out for the person as well. Provide a written (or email) target date for the letters to reach me. Provide one of my business cards to anyone off campus, if you would like to do that. Specify that people are welcome to send me one or more copies of their letters, thus letting me serve as the "clearing house" for them - that way I handle all of the posting and assembling, and your non-Rowan recommenders do not have to be bothered more than once. Tell me when you asked them to deliver the letters, so that I can plan my gentle reminders if I do not receive their documents.
