Faculty Development Series: Balancing Teaching & Research
The College of Science and Mathematics presents the fall CSM Faculty Development Series: You Can Balance Learning-Centered Teaching with High Research Productivity: Tips and Suggestions by Phyllis Blumberg, Director of the Teaching and Learning Center at University of Sciences, Philadelphia.
Friday, December 6
1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Student Center 221A
Using Weimer's framework for learning-centered teaching, this interactive presentation will discuss ways to promote such teaching while balancing the need to do research. Dr. Blumberg will present a few active learning and course design paradigms such as problem based learning, POGIL, blended or flipped courses. The goal of the workshop is for every faculty to acquire new insights into how to teach effectively and efficiently, while maintaining research productivity, and for faculty to be motivated to begin to make changes.
