Teacher Dispositions

1. Instructional Leadership

Candidates will be able to discuss and demonstrate the ways in which they maximize high levels of development and achievement for all learners. Their teaching practices are inclusive, collaborative, reflective, and responsive to the needs and developmental realities of students and the cultural contexts of the schools and communities.

2. Developmental Perspective

Candidates recognize that individuals and groups pass through various stages as they mature. They know and appropriately incorporate the ways students function at different developmental stages. They understand and are able to construct and adjust fluid learning environments that maximize learning.

3. Cooperative Disposition

Candidates understand and work effectively within the political contexts, social system, and economic realities of schools. They structure their learning communities and formal and informal learning experiences around shared goals and collaborative partnerships within and beyond the immediate learning community classroom.

4. Reflective Orientation

Candidates demonstrate openness to self-reflection and diverse points of view. They demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning.
