College of Education - Child Care Center

Child Care Center Overview

The climate at Rowan's Child Care Center is intended to offer a setting which will help the children make the transition from home to the outside world. The physical environment is set up to support the development of trust, independence and initiative. Fundamental to our success is the genuine care of our staff.

The majority of the child's day is spent in a mixed age group. Younger children are
exposed to more mature play and behavior, while older children are encouraged to take the opportunity to exhibit their competence by helping the younger children. By allowing the children to be in a mixed age group, they experience learning much like in a family or neighborhood setting.

Students from various disciplines in the University are provided with the opportunity to observe and work with the children. The Child Care Center provides a very natural setting for students to fulfill their course requirements.
