About Leslie Spencer, Ph.D.
Dr. Leslie Spencer came to Rowan in 1995 and created the Health Promotion and Fitness Management (HPFM) undergraduate specialization, which she continues to coordinate. She teaches courses in behavior change, nutrition, heatlh consumerism and general health promotion. Her favorite part of being a professor is the opportunity to form relationships with her students and mentor them. She loves to keep in touch with them, some for even a decade after they graduate. In 2010, the specialization won the Distinguished Undergraduate Award from the National Wellness Institute, an honor that means a lot to her. What makes Rowan's HPFM program so special? The combination of academically rigor, exceptional real-world opportunities for training and internships, solid relationships with fellow students and faculty, and a state-of-the-art facility. Dr. Spencer is married to a great guy and has two terrific sons! After completing treatment for breast cancer in 2010, she has entered the world of women's bodybuilding. She would also love to "friend" you on Facebook, so please look her up!
