About Robert Sterner, Ph.D.

Dr. Sterner has been at Rowan University since Fall 2001. He received his B.S. degree in Athletic Training from East Stroudsburg University and a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology & Sports Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. In 2001, he earned a Ph.D. in Applied Biomechanics from the University of Toledo. He has been the Program Director for the Rowan University Athletic Training Program since 2006. His research interests include fatigue’s influence in performance and how functional movement screening and corrective exercises can prevent injuries in the active population.  Dr. Sterner coordinates the Athletic Training program while teaching Safety, First Aid & Basic Understanding of Athletic Injuries, Pathology & Evaluation of Orthopedic Injuries I and II, Therapeutic Modalities, Therapeutic Exercises, Applied Biomechanics and Clinical Techniques in Athletic Training II and III.
