About Xiufang Chen, Ph.D.
Dr. Xiufang Chen is currently an Associate Professor of Literacy Education in the College of Education at Rowan University. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Language and Literacy Education from Texas Tech University, M.A. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from Beijing Normal University, China, and B.A. in English Education from Qufu Normal University, China. Her research interests include multicultural/multilingual education, social-cultural dimensions of literacy learning, integration of STEM and literacy instruction, and online literacy instruction. She is currently teaching language and literacy education courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Practicum in Math and Literacy, Teaching Literacy, Differentiated Literacy Instruction, Diagnosis Of Remedial Reading Problems, Teaching Reading and Writing in the Content Area, and Teaching Literacy to English Language Learners. Dr. Chen currently serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Literacy Research Association Yearbook and the LRA Technology Standing Committee. She is also a manuscript reviewer for Action in Teacher Education and a conference proposal reviewer for the LRA annual conference and AERA annual conference. At Rowan, she serves as Chair of Rowan University Bookstore Committee, a Department Liaison of Rowan University’s Faculty Center For Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and a grant proposal reviewer for Rowan University Seed Fund Program. She is coordinating the program of B.A. in Liberal Studies with Specialization in Literacy Studies at Rowan University.
