About Lori A. Block, PHR, M.P.A.
Mrs. Lori Block has been advising in either a career or academic capacity for the past 21 years of her 23 years at Rowan University. Mrs. Block is currently a doctoral candidate in Rowan University’s Education Leadership program and is presently working on her dissertation. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Political Science, Pre-Law from the University of Scranton.
Lori is presently serving on the all –university Advising Redesign Team working to reshape and improve advising services on campus. She has also served as Chair of the Senate Student Relations Committee, the Senate Representative to the University’s Judiciary Council, and has served on the Admissions, Retention and Recruitment, Aesthetics, and Budget committees. For 4 years, Mrs. Block has served as Vice President of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Local 2373 and for 6 years she served as the Professional Staff Chair at Rowan University. She served as the Tenure and Recontracting Chair for Professional Staff for 2 of the 5 years she served on the committee and is the founder and Chair of the AFT Community Awareness Committee organizing philanthropic activities on behalf of the members of the university community and her union.
Mrs. Block is the recipient of the 2011 Harley J. Flack Mentor of the Year Award and the 2010 Joseph Barnes Award for consistent, extraordinary and longstanding contributions to the University. She was inducted in to the Advisor Wall of Fame for Rowan University in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013, and is a member of the graduate honor society Alpha Epsilon Lambda.
