About Shawna Bu Shell, Ed.D.

Dr. Shawna Bu Shell is a native of California. She is an Assistant Professor in the Teacher Education department and the Program Coordinator for Educational Technology. Her resume bridges business, public education and higher education, as she spent a decade working for Pacific Bell in digital technologies, ten years teaching in a Magnet Science and Technology Elementary School in an urban school district in Northern California and now over a decade designing and implementing technology rich programs in NYC  and NJ Schools. She holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies Concentration in Elementary Education from the College of Notre Dame, a M.A. in Learning, Design, and Technology from Stanford University, an Ed.D. in Technology and Media from Columbia University Teachers College, and a Ed.M. from Columbia University Teachers College. Additionally, Dr. Bu Shell has her New York State Educational Technology Teaching Credential and California Multi-Subject Teaching Credential from California State University. Dr. Bu Shell’s research interests include clinical practice preparation in urban/rural settings, educational technology migration in and through teacher preparation, and technology as a virtual bridge between home and school in urban communities. Dr. Bu Shell teaches Educational Technology (Graduate and Undergraduate) and Internet and The Classroom (Graduate).
