About Ann Tiao, Ph.D.
Dr. Ann Tiao has served as the Assistant Dean for Research and Graduate Education for the College of Education since February 2014 where her primary function is to manage and provide oversight for research, grants, graduate education, and college-wide events. She previously served as the Associate Director of the HHMI-NIBIB Interfaces Scholars Program at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) and has taught for more than a decade at Penn’s Graduate School of Education. Since joining Rowan, Dr. Tiao has served on three search committees, co-chairs the COE Diversity Continuous Improvement Committee, serves as a mentor in the Harley E. Flack Mentoring Program, and meets with all incoming COE freshmen at orientation. Dr. Tiao received a B.A. in Statistics from Kansas State University, an M.S. in Statistics from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests focus on access and diversity in higher education with a specific emphasis on graduate education and assessment. Dr. Tiao has a long record of service at the university, community, and national levels. She currently serves as the Program Chair of a Special Interest Group with the nation’s largest education research organization (AERA) and is a member of the Kansas State University Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
