Scholarship and Awards Criteria
Scholarship Self-nomination Form
Internal Departmental Scholarships (Department of Language, Literacy and Special Education)
1- Graduate Incentive Award Master of Arts in Learning Disabilities or Learning Disability Teacher- Consultant Certification Program ($2,000)
Purpose of Incentive: To award an incentive award to an academically deserving graduate student who has provided significant service to students who are physically challenged or with learning disabilities. Recipient must be a teacher candidate in the Learning Disability Teacher Consultant Graduate Program
- Teacher candidate in the Learning Disability Teacher Consultant or Learning Disabilities Graduate Program
- Cumulative grade point average ≥ 3.0
- Completion of 9 graduate credit hours of courses in the Department of Language, Literacy, and Special Education (e.g., Foundations of LD, Applied Learning Theories, Neurobiological Bases of Ed Disorders, etc.)
- Has preferably two semesters, but at least one semester remaining before graduation
- Documentation with a brief statement of the following:
- Community and/or university service
- Participation in professional development activities
- Membership and participation in related organizations (e.g., Council for Exceptional Children [CEC]).
- Please provide a paragraph describing financial need e.g. outstanding student loans, other (Do not attach original documents).
2- Graduate Incentive Award Special Education [MA in Special Education]($2,000)
Purpose of incentive award: To award an incentive award to an academically deserving graduate student who has provided significant service to students who are physically challenged or with learning disabilities. Recipient must be a teacher candidate in the Special Education Graduate Program
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0
- Matriculated into the Graduate Program in Special Education
- Documentation with a brief statement of the following:
- Community and/or university service
- Participation in professional development activities
- Membership and participation in related organizations (e.g., Council for Exceptional Children [CEC]).
- Completion of 9 graduate credit hours of courses in the Department of Special Education (e.g., Implementing Positive Behavior Supports, Collaborative Instruction in the Inclusive Classroom, Educational Psychology of Exceptional Learners)
- Please provide a paragraph describing financial need e.g. outstanding student loans, other (Do not attach original documents).
3-Graduate Incentive Award Special Education [Graduate Endorsement Program for Special Education]($2,000)
Purpose of incentive award: To award an incentive award to an academically deserving graduate student who has provided significant service to students who are physically challenged or with learning disabilities. Recipient must be a teacher candidate in the Special Education Graduate Program
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0
- Matriculated into the Graduate Program in Special Education
- Completion of 6-8 graduate credit hours of courses in the Department of Special Education (e.g., Human Exceptionality, Differentiated Instruction, Positive Behavior Supports)
- Documentation with a brief statement of the following:
- Community and/or university service
- Participation in professional development activities
- Membership and participation in related organizations (e.g., Council for Exceptional Children [CEC]).
- Please provide a paragraph describing financial need e.g. outstanding student loans, other (Do not attach original documents).
4- Post Baccalaureate Endorsement Incentive Award: Teacher of Students with Disabilities ($2,000)
Purpose of Incentive Award: To award an incentive award to an academically deserving graduate student who has provided significant service to students who are physically challenged or with learning disabilities. Recipient must be a teacher candidate in the Post Baccalaureate Endorsement Teacher of Students with Disabilities Program
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0
- Matriculated into the Post Baccalaureate Endorsement: Teacher of the Students with Disabilities
- Completion of 6-8 graduate credit hours of courses in the Department of Special Education (e.g., Human Exceptionality, Differentiated Instruction, Positive Behavior Supports)
- Documentation with a brief statement of the following:
- Community and/or university service
- Participation in professional development activities
- Membership and participation in related organizations (e.g., Council for Exceptional Children [CEC]).
