Assessment and Learning Center Information
The Rowan University Assessment and Learning Center is a training and service unit within the department of Special Educational Services/Instruction. The center provides a range of services for children with educational and developmental disorders. The center utilizes the expertise of departmental faculty who have diverse backgrounds, training and many years of experience.
The evaluations take place at the Assessment and Learning Center and require several visits to thoroughly examine all areas of suspected disability and present results to the family and school. Diagnostic evaluations include psychological testing, speech and language testing, learning disability evaluation, and social history assessment. Additional referrals to child psychiatrists or neurologists can be made as necessary. The child study team provides an integrated summary, conclusion and recommendations, which usually result in a 20-30 page report. Suggestions are provided to remediate or ameliorate the problem identified.
Referrals to the Center can be made by calling 856-256-4512. Please note that you must call in order to make an appointment so that we can obtain sufficient background information and provide families information regarding center procedures. Currently the Center cannot accept payment from insurance companies; however, insurance companies may reimburse portions of the assessment directly to the family.
