How do I get an application?

What standardized tests do I have to take?
The MA is School Psychology requires the general GRE (the subject test is not required); persons applying to the Ed.S. program, who have obtained an acceptable Master’s degree at another institution, must submit the GRE Psychology subject test (the general test is not required).
If I apply to the MA in School Psychology program at Rowan and am accepted, I’m automatically accepted into the Ed.S. program, right?
No, all graduates of the MA program in School Psychology must apply separately to the Ed.S. program. This includes completing another application form, paying the application fee, and collecting two letters of recommendation.
What courses can I take as a non-matriculated student in the Master’s Degree in School Psychology program?
You may take Fundamentals of Multicultural Education (FNDS 21.530) or Social and Cultural Diversity (PSY 05.610), Neurological Bases of Educational Disorders (LDTC 18.520), Education/Psychology of the Exceptional Learner (SPED 08.555), Development and Learning (PSY 22.507), and Lifespan Development (PSY 09.560). Remember, however, that non-matriculated students are limited to three courses/nine credits.
I’ve already earned a Master’s degree at another school. Can I take Ed.S. or certification classes as a non-matriculated student?
Yes, non-matriculated students may enroll in several Ed.S. level classes before formally applying to the program: Fundamentals of Curriculum Development (CURR 29.580), Educational Organization and Leadership (EDSU 28.546), and Home/School/Community Collaboration (SPED 08.545). Non-matriculated students who already possess a master's degree can take all of these courses before formally applying to the program; the Graduate School does not place the same nine credit, three class restriction on students who hold master's degrees.
So how many degrees do I get?
You receive two degrees: An MA in School Psychology, and later, the Educational Specialist (Ed.S). First, you receive the MA degree upon successful completion of the required 34 semester hours. The second part of the program leads to the Ed.S. degree.
Can I just get my MA in School Psychology and practice?
No, you must be certified to practice school psychology. The MA in School Psychology is not sufficient for you to present yourself to school districts as a fully fledged school psychologist.
Can I practice school psychology in other states?
If you pass the Nationally Certified School Psychology exam, for which you will be prepped during the mentorship, you will then be able to obtain certification much more easily in about 26 states.
