Clinical Practice Applications

IMPORTANT:

It is your responsibility to keep the Office of Field Experiences aware of address and phone number changes at all times. Use the Clinical Practice Candidate Data Change Form and email to ofe@rowan.edu as an attachment.

A Criminal Background Check may be necessary depending on your placement district's policy.

Instructions for Form 2 -  Candidate Data Part C of Application -

1. List completed coursework prior to the clinical practice semester.

On the left side (Courses Completed in Major -- List) you should list the courses in your major if you are Subject Matter. If you are Elementary Education or Early Childhood, list the courses in your coordinate major. List all courses you will have completed up to the time of clinical practice as if you have completed them. Do not put dates -- do not list general education courses. If you are a Post Bac student, on the left side you should enter: Post Bac -- your degree -- where you obtained it and the year. (e.g., Post Bac - Mathematics, B.A., Rutgers Univ. - 1999), and any courses in major you have taken at Rowan since degree was received.  On the right side (Courses Completed in Professional Ed. - List) are your education courses - TLC 1 & 2, Practicum A, etc.  List courses - do not put dates, course numbers, etc.

2. Enter the title of the Praxis II test you have taken and in "results", enter your score.

Candidates who plan to apply for clinical practice (student teaching) for fall 2006 or thereafter, must pass the appropriate PRAXIS II test prior to beginning their clinical practice experience. Otherwise, the clinical practice experience will be postponed until such time the candidate passes the appropriate PRAXIS II test. The Praxis II due dates are:

Therefore, it is important to complete your content knowledge courses, schedule and pass the appropriate PRAXIS II test the semester prior to clinical practice to ensure your eligibility for clinical practice.

Candidates who entered the program prior to fall 2004 may be exempt from this requirement and may request a review of their status on a case-by-case basis. Make an appointment with your department advisor to request such a review.

Teacher Candidates who will be eligible for Clinical Practice should type and return two (2) copies of each form (do not staple or fold) to the Office of Field Experiences. For Spring placement, applications must be in before the last Monday in September. For Fall placement, applications must be in before the third Monday in December.

NOTE: If you are in the Camden City Tops Program, please contact the Office of Field Experiences to apply for Clinical Practice.

NOTE: If you are seeking an endorsement in special education, be sure to complete and submit an application for special education in addition to your major application. (Indicate the semester and year) --  If your special education clinical practice immediately follows your initial clinical practice, the semester and year will be the same.  If not, please indicate the semester and year that you will need placement.
