The objectives of this research project are to develop techniques for the imaging and modeling of 3-D materials, especially particle aggregates. Research tools include an optical microscope, an optical tomography system and an X-Ray microtomograph. We seek to design, develop and validate algorithms for stochastic 3-D shape description and model synthesis using computed tomography methods.
