TITLE: Mechanical Engineering Technician, PSS3, Range 21- AFT

Description

• Set up laboratory exercises for Mechanical Engineering courses.  Order supplies and materials for laboratories and ensure all required materials are in stock.  Assist faculty in designing and executing laboratories.
• Maintain rapid prototyping equipment (e.g. abrasive waterjet cutter, laser engraver/cutter, ABS 3D printer).
• Assist faculty in developing and fabricating research equipment.
• Assist students in design and prototyping for engineering clinic and research projects.
• Install and maintain engineering software and conduct engineering software training for students.
• Candidate must be available for work between 12:00 – 9:00pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 12:00 – 9:30pm on Wednesday and Thursday

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering or equivalent, M.S. preferred
• Experience in the use of machine tools and/or welding
• Experience with mechanical design and rapid prototyping
• Experience in the use of mechanical engineering software for design and analysis

The successful candidate can be from a variety of backgrounds, including persons with machinist journeyman papers or equivalent industrial experience, or a mechanical engineer with a suitable background and necessary skill set.  The position is full time, with benefits.
