BETTER THAN EVER: Women Figurative Artists of the 70s Soho Co-ops

This traveling exhibition is curated by New York painter and professor Sharyn Finnegan. The show spotlights the 1970's, a crucial period in the feminist movement, and reunites 19 artists who displayed their work in supportive, cooperatively-owned galleries in New York City's SoHo neighborhood.

ELAINE ERNE: Drawings and Prints

Elaine Erne,is a Philadelphia-based artist who creates large scale graphite drawings as well as lithographic prints. Her most recent series is titled "The Lives and Traumas of Stuffed Animals" that features imagery serving as an allegory for children in abusive situations.

This exhibit, curated by Heather Mae Erickson, currently the Robert Chapman Turner Teaching Fellow at Alfred University, former Finland Fulbright Scholar and resident of the Clay Studio, will focus on ceramic artists who teach ceramics in the Philadelphia and New Jersey area. The exhibit coincides with the annual conference of National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) to be held in Philadelphia in 2010.
