Jazz Camp July 13 – July 17, 2008
The Maynard Ferguson Institute of Jazz Studies at Rowan University is proud to announce the first Rowan Jazz Camp to be held July 13 – July 17, 2008. This camp will feature Rowan’s jazz faculty and guest artists. The Rowan Jazz Camp will offer students from New Jersey and surrounding states a chance to study with some of the region’s finest educators and performers. During this dynamic five-day camp, students will learn big band and small jazz combo techniques as well as improvisation, and other musicianship skills necessary for today’s jazz students ages 14 – 18, who will become tomorrow’s performers. Classes will cover a vast array of topics, including but not limited to: Latin rhythms for drum-set, introduction to MIDI (including Finale, Smart Music, Sibelius, Garage Band and Band in a Box), preparing for college auditions, practice techniques, the business of music, transcribing, and keyboard harmony.
