Ways to Study - Spring, 2012 (January 3, 2012 through May, 2012)

Admission to Rowan Prep is open to anyone desiring to learn music. We offer a variety of courses for students aged O to 99+ years. The faculty and staff can assist new students in finding the most appropriate type of instruction. All individual/private music instruction requires a placement interview/phone call with the director, Regina Di Medio Marrazza. Informational meetings can be arranged with the Director as well to help guide you/your child in your musical journey. This weekly, semester-long class provides beginning piano students with a strong foundation in rhythm, note reading, and basic technique that leads to successful private study in following sessions/years. The class is limited to 4 students; students are taught on acoustic pianos and learn how to develop critical listening skills and proper pianistic habits.

Join Rowan University/Rowan Prep faculty member, Dr. Bryan Appleby-Wineberg and delve into the "brass world" with your instrument. Beginner and intermediate level students are welcome. Learn basic reading, breathing, and brass-specific techniques within an an encouraging and dynamic environment. All students are required to bring their own instruments to class.

Suzuki String Ensemble - "Young Artists Chamber Music Ensemble (YACME)

Rowan Prep's Suzuki String Program is pleased to announce the second season of its new "Young Artists Chamber Music Ensemble" (YACME)

This ensemble is offered to highly motivated string players, ages 8-13, who have demonstrated an outstanding work ethic, positive attitude, and dedication to musical achievement. The Young Artists Chamber Music Ensemble offers a chance to study chamber music in depth, develop ensemble skills, and practice sight-reading. There will be performance opportunities at recitals and community events throughout the year. The ensemble will meet weekly in the Wilson Building (Room 208) at Rowan University on Tuesdays, from 5:00 – 5:45 p.m..

There are two ways to be a part of this exciting ensemble. If your child is currently enrolled in Suzuki lessons at Rowan Prep, tuition is included with the Suzuki Package. (The Chamber Ensemble will replace the Suzuki Group II class for those students who are currently enrolled in Suzuki lessons.) If your child is not currently taking Suzuki lessons at Rowan Prep, an interview will be set up by Elizabeth Cary, director of YACME. For this placement interview, please call the Rowan Prep main office, 856.256.4554/6. Once confirmed by Ms. Cary, families can register for the Young Artists Chamber Music Ensemble at your first ensemble meeting.

Tuition for spring, 2012, beginning February 8, will be based on a 12-week-session, $240. Tuition will be pro-rated based on your date of joining the ensemble.

Enjoy the community atmosphere of this vocal performance ensemble, and enjoy working as a musical team in learning solos, duets and ensemble repertoire, with a focus on healthy vocal technique and performance "issues". Private coachings as well as ensemble training will be part of the curriculum. The ultimate goal is for you to find your voice within a positive and nurturing community of fellow-singers.

Join Dr. Appleby-Wineberg and other school-aged brass players in this brilliant and fun ensemble experience as a member of Rowan Prep's Youth Brass Band. This 12-weeks program/ensemble will meet Fridays, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Rowan University's Wilson Hall. (start date: Friday, January 20). Students in our Youth Brass Band will be taught ensemble-playing, as well as will receive lessons and invaluable instruction from current Rowan faculty, Rowan Graduate students, and The Atlantic Brass Band members (Ensemble-In-Residence at Rowan University).

This ensemble is open to any/all school-aged brass players of the following instruments:
percussion, cornet, flugel horn, tenor horn, trombone, tuba, euphonium, and baritone

Auditions are required, and can be set up by making an appointment directly with Dr. Appleby-Wineberg prior to the first meeting of the ensemble, Friday, January 20).

About our director, Dr. Appleby-Wineberg
Dr. Bryan Appleby-Wineberg begins his 11th year as Head of Brass at Rowan University. He is also Principal Cornet and Assistant Conductor of The Atlantic Brass Band, Principal Trumpet of the Bay-Atlantic Symphony, a founding member of Tromba Mundi (a professional trumpet quintet), and performs with The Bombastique Brass Quintet in NYC, and the Rowan University Faculty Brass Quintet
