Assistant Professor Lane Savadove has been directing and teaching nationally and internationally for over 15 years. Savadove is a Drama League Directing Fellow, a Presidential Fellow, a Shubert Fellow, and was the first director to have been awarded the Henry Luce Fellowship. He holds his MFA in Directing from Columbia University, his B.A. from Haverford College. Savadove has worked and trained closely with innovators Judith Malina at The Living Theater, Lee Breuer at Mabou Mines, Ping Chong, and Anne Bogart of SITI Company. In 1991, Savadove founded the award winning repertory company, EgoPo Productions, and continues as its Artistic Director. Savadove and the actors of EgoPo relocated to Philadelphia after losing their theatrical home in New Orleans to Hurricane Katrina. From 1995-96, he served as the Resident Director of the National Cultural Center of Indonesia. His work includes over 35 productions, 20 of them World Premiers. His awards include: �Best Show of 2000� by Backstage, �Pick of the Year� by The Village Voice, 8 Louisiana Theater Festival Awards, and over a dozen nominations for the Stoorer Boone and Big Easy Awards in New Orleans. Notable productions include: EgoPo�s production of Beckett�s Company (National Public Radio); the world premier of Wole Soyinka�s Camwood on the Leaves (Loyola Univ.); the world premier of the Tennessee Williams� A House Not Meant to Stand (Southern Rep.); his dual version of Genet�s The Maids (New Orleans, Phila Fringe, Jena Cocteau Rep) which Time-Out New York called �The Best Show of the Year�, and most recently Spring Awakening for EgoPo (Adrienne Theater). This year he will be directing Tennessee Williams� Vieux Carre. Lane has served on the acting and directing faculties of Playwrights Horizon�s Studio at NYU�s Tisch School of the Arts, Loyola University-New Orleans, Rutgers-Camden, and Rider. Lane has been training the actors of EgoPo for 15 years and is considered one of the nation�s top teachers and developers of Viewpoints technique. He is very proud to be the newest member of the Rowan faculty. |
