Students must select an audition date on the undergraduate application and submit the application to the Office of Admissions. Auditions and portfolio reviews will be held:
Once you submit your application to the Office of Admissions, please allow 2-3 weeks for your audition confirmation package to arrive by mail from your academic department. It is strongly recommended that all students appear on campus to audition. If you are unable to appear on campus, please contact fpa@rowan.edu or call 856.256.4548 for instructions to submit your materials by mail. Taped auditions on VHS or DVD may be accepted. Please include all audition elements listed below on your audition tape. Remember to test your audition tape for picture and sound quality before mailing it to Rowan. Auditionees: To prepare for your audition, choose two contrasting pieces of material which exhibit your skills and abilities. Please bring a resume of your recent performance and technical activities with you to the audition. Limit introductory remarks to a title and a few short phrases of description and limit the total time of your presentation to four minutes. Time your material carefully in advance. First, you may present either a monologue or a speech taken from theatrical literature. Your second selection should be different in tone from your first. If your first selection is a dramatic monologue, your second might be a humorous piece or a selection from a musical comedy. Or your second might be an interpretative reading of light verse, or a musical number. But always choose material suited to your personality, sex, age, and playing ability. Make yourself look good! If you choose a song, you may bring taped music. We will provide a tape player but not a pianist or piano. Limit costumes and props. We are concerned only with your performance. Interviewees: Design/Tech Bring a portfolio containing pictures and any drawings, drafting, or sketches you may have used in carrying out the work you have done. Programs from shows are also a good indicator of your work experience. At the interview we wish to get a sense of your future plans and your commitment to the career. Dance Minor/Dance Concentration If you perform to recorded sound, you must bring your own accompaniment and any other production elements, i.e. costumes, props, etc. We will provide a CD/tape player, but not a live accompanist.
