Clubs

There are 7 distinct student organizations housed in the Theatre and Dance Department. They are Campus Players, Dance Extensions, Lab Theatre, The Bureau of Theatre and Dance Activities, 3-D Dance Club, Once Upon a Stage and Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Fraternity.

The student organization's missions are as follows:

Campus Players produces three major productions annually, plus other theatre activities which shall enhance the cultural development of the college.

Dance Extensions broadens the performance opportunities for students and expands the appreciation and improves the technique of dance students at Rowan University. Dance Extensions sponsors the production of the spring student choreographed dance concert, as well as weekly master classes with guest artists and supports student attendance at the American college dance festival and regional performances by professional companies.

Lab Theatre serves as a wholly student selected, produced and staffed theatre organization. Thus, the organization is a laboratory, giving students experience in all aspects of theatre activity. It is also a lab for student experimentation and exploration of theatrical literature and styles.

The Bureau of Theatre and Dance supports departmental attendance at regional and national conferences such as the American College Theatre Festival and the American College Dance Festival. In addition, BOTDA also supports other departmental activities such as the end of the year BOTDA Banquet and special performances by outside groups designed to address student needs and cultural development.

3-D Dance Club dynamically diverse dancers or 3-D is a club devoted to diversity and the development of social dance forms at Rowan University.

Open to Child Drama majors, as well as any student in the Theatre & Dance department, Once Upon a Stage is a student group dedicated to producing and performing plays that appeal to young audiences.

Alpha Psi Omega is a theatre honor society organized for the purpose of providing acknowledgement to those demonstrating a high standard of accomplishment in theatre and providing a wider fellowship for those interested in theatre. The society is not intended to take the place of any regular theatre groups, but as students qualify they may be rewarded by election to membership in this society.

The department also houses Very Special Arts New Jersey in the Memorial Hall, Dance Program, a music and dance program for autistic children.
