How To Register For Your Classes
The Graduate School knows you have places to go and goals to reach. We'll help you get registered for your classes and get on with your day. Just follow the simple 3-step process outlined below to register for graduate courses using Rowan University's online course registration system.
If at anytime you have questions about registering for classes, you can reach the Ofice of the Registrar at 856-256-4350 during their weekday business hours of 8:30am to 4:00pm.
Step 1: Which Classes Do You Want To Take?
- View our current graduate course offerings either online (recommended) or as a downloadable PDF.
- Check the availability of current courses.
- View all course descriptions in the 2009-2010 Graduate Catalog

Step 2: What Type of Student Are You?
- Matriculated - You are a graduate student who has already applied and been accepted into one of Rowan University's graduate programs (ex: M.A. in Public Reltaions). You may register during the entire online registration period.
- Pre-Matriculated - You have begun the application process with The Graduate School (or have not yet received a decision on your completed graduate application), have been entered into our system, and have received your Banner ID (Rowan University's student ID) via email. You may take no more than 9 credits prior to being accepted into one of our graduate programs.You will be permitted to register for classes following the registration period that is reserved for matriculated students.
- Non-Matriculated - You have never applied to The Graduate School before. You may take no more than 9 credits using Take-a-Course registration prior to being accepted into one of our graduate programs. You will be permitted to register for classes following the registration period that is reserved for matriculated students.
Step 3: Register For Your Classes
- If you are currenlty enrolled in one of our graduate programs: meet with your program advisor to select courses and review prerequisites before registering.
Instructions for Registration using Rowan's Student Self Service
(For Matriculated & Pre-Matriculated graduate students)

If you are prevented from registering, please check to see if there are “Hold Flags” or “holds” on your account screen and why they are there. Only the department or office which has placed the flag on your record, can remove it. For example, if you have not turned in required health forms, you will need to contact the Student Health Center.
If you continue to be prevented from accessing registration services, you may call the Office of the Registrar 856-256-4350 from 8:30am and 4pm on any of your scheduled registration days.

More on Registering for Classes
- Any student who has received an undergraduate degree and wishes to take a graduate level course is considered a graduate student.
- Students who present evidence of a master's degree (see attached form) are not restricted to the 9 credit limit, but must register as a non-matriculated student.
- In order to register for courses, you must be included in our computerized student information system (Banner).
- If you have previously attended Rowan (or have applied to The Graduate School recently), it is likely that you are already included in Banner and you may register as a Non-Matriculated or Pre-Matriculated student.
- If you are prevented from registering, please check to see if there are “Hold Flags” or “holds” on your account screen and why they are there.
