New Jersey Campus Diversity Initiative

The Bildner Grant

The New Jersey Campus Diversity Grant is funded by the Bildner Foundation and directed by The Philanthropic Institute (TPI) and the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AACU.) Rowan University is one of eight New Jersey institutions of higher education to receive this award. This grant will support the development of challenging interdisciplinary team taught courses for entering students, which will provide an opportunity for Rowan University students, in their earliest tenure, to experience the complexity surrounding issues about democracy and diversity.  This is a very timely issue given the events of the past year and the changing demographics of New Jersey.

Dr. Tahamont is a member of Project Kaleidoscope's Faculty for the 21st Century.

This year's national assembly was held at University of Wisconson-Madison. It is sponsored by UWM and Promega.

Rowan University is fortunate to participate in the New Jersey Campus Diversity Grant, funded by the Bildner Foundation, and directed by AAC&U and the Philanthropic Institute (TPI.) This grant will allow Rowan Faculty to develop and offer new interdisciplinary, team taught courses that address issues of democracy and diversity.

Dr. Tahamont was one of the principal investigators on the grant "Women and Scientific Literacy: Building Two-Way Streets" funded by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). Please see the research seminar page for all of the work we have been doing for our grant "Bridging the Gap: Women's Studies and the Sciences"

Rowan University was fortunate to be selected as one of the participants in the Boundaries and Borderlands III: The Search for Recognition and Community in America, funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.  As a member of the Rowan University team, Dr. Tahamont attended an intensive summer workshop, held at Brown University, to work on our project "Weaving Threads of Personal Identity and Community into the Multilayered Quilt called America."
