B.S. Biological Sciences/Education Rowan University has a long tradition of preparing students for a career in teaching, and the Biological Sciences Department is proud to participate in a number of Education programs. Biology Major with K-12 Subject Matter emphasis: Students can earn a B.S. Biology degree and complete a traditional teacher preparation program at Rowan University's College of Education. "Alternate Route" Certification: Many students who are interested in teaching Biology at the secondary education level express an interest in New Jersey's Provisional Teacher Program (aka "Alternate Route Certification"). To participate, students do not have to complete a traditional college teacher training program while they are working on their B.S. Biology degree. Liberal Studies: Math/Science Track: The Biological Sciences Department offers several key courses for the University's major in Liberal Studies: Math/Science Track. The Liberal Studies Program is specifically designed for students who are interested in Elementary Education.
