American Studies at Rowan University

The American Studies curriculum is a guided interdisciplinary program that combines structure with choice. The Introduction to American Studies will help you to synthesize the varying approaches and methods you will master during your college career. You will study in each of the departments of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences within selected courses addressing issues in American society, culture and geography. The program will introduce you to the diversity of ideas who comprise America.

The American Studies specialization draws its coursework from different humanities departments at Rowan, including English, Geography, History, Law and Justice Studies, Political Science and Sociology. Students choose from courses that address issues in American society, culture and geography. By learning to make connections across different disciplines, students develop strong critical thinking and writing skills as well as a sophisticated understanding of the American cultural landscape.
