Volunteer Abroad

Many opportunities exist for Rowan students interested in humanitarian efforts abroad. Examples of the exciting and rewarding activities available include teaching English, environmental work, and participating in educational and community aid programs. These programs allow for immersion in another culture and can enhance career goals. These programs often provide free room and board. Programs are located throughout the world, and can be either long or short term.

Engineers Without Borders

Engineers Without Borders - USA (EWB-USA) is a non-profit humanitarian organization established to partner with developing communities worldwide in order to improve their quality of life. This partnership involves the implementation of sustainable engineering projects, while involving and training internationally responsible engineers and engineering students.

Volunteers for Peace offers over 2400 affordable ($200-$400) short-term international voluntary service programs in 90 countries.

Global Volunteer Network

The Global Volunteer Network offers volunteer opportunities in community projects throughout the world. We currently provide volunteer programs through our partner organizations in Cambodia, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ghana, Honduras, India, Kenya, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, USA, and Vietnam. The network continues to expand with new programs currently being researched and assessed.

World Wide Volunteer Services

World Wide Volunteer Services offers programs in Africa, China, Europe, India, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. Volunteer opportunities include teaching English, working in local clinics and hospitals, helping children in summer camps and orphanages, and volunteering for community outreach and service projects. Undergraduate or graduate credit may be available to students participating in certain programs.

Greenheart Travel

CCI offers a variety of short-term programs abroad for college students:
language schools, internships, volunteer projects, and independent homestays
in over 20 countries around the world.  These programs run all year round
and the majority focus on the homestay experience: living with a carefully
screened host family that allows students to learn more about the culture
