Advising

Academic Advisor: Rory McElwee, Ph.D. (mcelwee@rowan.edu)

All psychology majors are expected to meet with their psychology department advisor at least once a semester. The purpose of these meetings are to discuss course selection, progress towards graduation requirements, academic planning, graduate school and/or career plans.

Transfer Credits

Transfer students may transfer a maximum total of 66 credit hours from other institutions and may not transfer more than 12 credit hours in psychology courses. Transfer students must complete a minimum of 54 credit hours, including a minimum of 26 credit hours in psychology, at Rowan University to earn a psychology degree at Rowan University. All psychology majors are strongly urged to take all their psychology courses at Rowan University. Students should consult with their advisor before taking courses at other institutions to insure the credits will be accepted by Rowan.

PASS/NO CREDIT

Psychology majors make take up to 10% of their Rowan credit hours as pass/no credit including 6 credit hours in psychology (students may not take Research Methods in Psychology, Statistics in Psychology or Advanced Research, nor their 400 level requirement courses pass/no credit).

Credit by examination

Students scoring 52 or above on the CLEP test may earn credit for Essentials of Psychology
