Welcome

The Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures, located on the third floor of Bunce Hall, offers courses in language, literature, civilization, culture, and linguistics. The languages offered include Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Latin, Russian and Zulu.

Japanese is being offered for the first time in Fall 2009.

There are two new Minor programs which will be introduced over the next two years pending curricular approval: Minor in Romance Languages (approved Fall 2009) and Minor in Spanish For Business (estimated approval Fall 2010).

Students may work to obtain a Major in Spanish as well as a Coordinate Major in Spanish for Education Majors.

The Department also offers Minors in Spanish, French and German (18 s.h. each) and participates in the interdisciplinary International Studies Concentration (18 s.h.). Also, French courses are offered beyond the 18 s.h. Minor, up to 30 s.h., providing students with the opportunity to accumulate credits toward a second certification.
