Welcome

The Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures, located on the third floor of Bunce Hall, offers courses in language, literature, civilization, culture, and linguistics. The languages offered include Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Latin, Japanese, Swahili, Russian and Zulu.

Elementary Japanese II was offered for the first time in Spring 2010.

There is one new Minor program which will be introduced in the upcoming year pending curricular approval: Minor in Spanish For Business (estimated approval Fall 2010).

Students may work to obtain a Major in Spanish as well as a Coordinate Major in Spanish for Education Majors.

The Department also offers Minors in Spanish, French, German (18 s.h. each), Romance Languages and participates in the interdisciplinary International Studies Concentration (18 s.h.). Also, French courses are offered beyond the 18 s.h. Minor, up to 30 s.h., providing students with the opportunity to accumulate credits toward a second certification.
