Overview

Are you thinking about applying to law school? Are you interested in the law? If so, then the Pre-Law Society is for you! Rowan University’s Pre-Law Society is open to all students, from any major, who would like the opportunity to learn about the law in general and law school in particular. You’ll have the chance to meet with other students with similar interests and share experiences. In addition, the Pre-Law Society holds law and law school related events throughout the year, takes trips to local law schools, and sponsors Rowan’s Annual Law School Fair. Come join us!

Annual Law School Fair (2006 Archive Link)

Each November, the Pre-Law Society hosts an annual Law School Fair. Recruiters from law schools throughout the Northeast and beyond visit campus, talk with our students, and provide information about their programs. The Law School Fair provides a great opportunity to learn about various law schools, their expectations, the application process and the options open to you think about your law school plans. Check our link for highlights from the 2006 fair. We were also featured in the CLASNotes, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Spring 2007 newsletter.

Guest Speakers and Other Pre-Law Events (New Events TBA)

The Pre-Law Society sponsors guest speakers and other pre-law events throughout the year, in order to expose students to different areas of legal practice and different facets of the law school experience. Guest speakers and pre-law events over the years have included:

  • Guest Speakers: “What Practicing Law is Really Like” featuring personal injury attorney Brett R. Hupart, labor lawyer Peter Marks and general practitioner Christopher Manganello.
  • Guest Speakers: “What Law School is Really Like” featuring law students and Rowan alumni Barbara Fitzgerald and Anthony DiClaudio.
  • Guest Speaker: “Law Degrees and Political Careers” featuring New Jersey State Assemblyman David R. Mayer.
  • Guest Speaker: “The Law School Admissions Process” featuring Villanova University Admissions Counselor Katherine Dunne Moss.
  • Guest Speaker: “Public Defense Work: In General and in Child Abuse Cases,” featuring New Jersey Assistant Deputy Public Defender Frank Thiel.
  • Trip to Rutgers School of Law-Camden: Toured campus, met with admissions counselor Nancy Rubert.
  • Pre-Law Society Movie Presentation: “The Paper Chase.”
  • Pre-Law Society Documentary Presentation: “Financing a Legal Education: Investing in Your Future.”
