A diverse, inclusive and supportive learning community

We embrace the philosophy that excellence in medical education, research and clinical practice is best achieved through promoting diversity and inclusion and maintaining an academic and work environment free of discrimination. At Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU), we have pledged to sustain a learning community where diversity is celebrated and to foster access to medical education to learners who represent our community. We consider inclusivity to be a responsibility of everyone in our learning environment.

Breaking Barriers

CMSRU ranked #50 nationally for Best Medical Schools: Primary Care

U.S. News & World Report, which releases an annual survey of the nation’s top graduate programs, ranked Cooper Medical School of Rowan University #50 nationally for Best Medical Schools: Primary Care. CMSRU’s ranking was the highest among New Jersey medical schools, and second highest among the seven medical schools in the Delaware Valley.

The Best Medical Schools: Primary Care review is part of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools rankings which evaluate programs in a variety of disciplines, including business, education, engineering, law, medicine, and nursing for prospective students looking to further their education beyond college. By collecting graduate school data annually, U.S. News is able to present the most current figures on enrollment, job placement, faculty and other critical quality indicators that help prospective students make informed decisions.

Educate. Innovate. Lead. Serve.

These four principles are the foundation of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU). We offer innovative medical education in order to prepare students to be excellent physicians, strong patient advocates, community leaders, critical thinkers and lifelong learners.

Exceptional Match Rate

Our students match into prestigious residency programs across the nation.

Each spring, graduating medical students learn where they will begin the next phase of their medical education as resident physicians at hospitals around the country in a process facilitated by the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). In 2023, CMSRU’s overall NRMP match rate was 100 percent – well above the national average of 93.7 percent for U.S. MD seniors.
