Pipeline Programs


Primary Urban Partnership (P.U.P)

Cooper Medical School of Rowan University initiated the Primary Urban Partnership (P.U.P) in 2011. The goal of the program is to provide elementary students early exposure to health professions. CMSRU faculty and staff conduct bi-monthly interactive sessions that engage students in health related subjects.

P.U.P is partially funded by a grant from the Schwartz Foundation.

Junior Urban Medical Pioneers (J.U.M.P)

The Junior Urban Medial Pioneers High School Academy (JUMP HIGH) is a one- day program for high school students who excel in math and science. The program’s hands-on activities and interactive learning sessions expose students to applied science, and provide an overview of a variety of science and healthcare careers.

JUMP High is led by faculty of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Sessions are held at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.

The primary goal of JUMP High is to provide mentorship and exposure to medical professions to students who belong to groups that are traditionally under-represented in medicine, as well as those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Eligibility criteria:

Students will be presented with information on carious career options within the field of medicine and leave with a better understand of how to achieve success in the sciences.

Students are recommended by guidance counselor or science teacher.  Parental consent is required. Students receive confirmation of acceptance directly from CMSRU. For questions regarding JUMP High contact Octavia Nash, Program Coordinator, at 856-361-2818 or nash@rowan.edu .


Premedical Urban Leaders Summer Enrichment (PULSE)

PULSE is a six week academic enrichment program for college undergraduates interested in healthcare professions. The program provides academic, clinical, research and service learning opportunities with a focus on urban health needs. Developed by Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU), the PULSE program help students become lifelong learners and empower them to use their knowledge to make a difference in their communities.

The primary goal of PULSE is to provide exposure to medical professions to those groups traditionally under-represented in the field, as well as those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
