Premedical Urban Leaders Summer Enrichment (PULSE)

PULSE GENERAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS


PULSE PROGRAM PHASES

PHASE I
Designed for students who have just started pre-professional studies and have completed/met the general eligibility requirements

Phase I Curriculum Highlights:

- Introduction to Chemistry
- Verbal reasoning skills
- Health professions career seminars and workshops
- Learning skills workshops
- Service learning or Community service activities

 

PHASE II
Designed for students who have completed/met the general eligibility requirements and organic chemistry

Phase II Curriculum Highlights:

- Organic Chemistry review
- Introduction to Biochemistry - lecture and team-based learning activities
- MCAT Review
- Health professions career seminars and workshops
- Learning skills workshops
- Clinical shadowing

 

PHASE III
Designed for students who are at or near the point of applying to professional school and have completed nearly all pre-professional science requirements

Phase III Curriculum Highlights:

- Introduction to Gross Anatomy - lecture and lab
- Research techniques in medicine
- Health professions career seminars and workshops
- Learning skills workshops (includes writing personal statements, interviewing techniques, mock interviews, etc...)

A COMPLETED APPLICATION CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING:

  1. An online application form
  2. Official Transcripts from all institutions attended
  3. Two letters of recommendations:
    • - One from a science professor
    • - One from a non-science professor
  4. Response to Essay questions (included in the online application form)
