Medical Education Grand Rounds will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM in the Medical School Auditorium. The speaker will be David Nash, M.D., M.B.A., Dean of Jefferson School of Public Health. His lecture will be entitled "Point with Pride, View with Alarm, End with Hope." The topic will cover teaching and training in quality improvement and patient safety.
Please save the date for a GME mini-retreat on Friday, June 28, 2013, from 11:15 AM to 3:00 PM. The event will start with lunch at 11:15 AM followed by a plenary session by Eric Holmboe, M.D. Dr. Holmboe is Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the ABIM Foundation. Dr. Holmboe’s research interests include interventions to improve quality of care and methods in the evaluation of clinical competence. He is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed articles. From 1:15 to 3:00 PM, there will be breakout sessions on topics of interest for the chairs and program directors. A full agenda will follow.

Safe Zone Seminar | The Office of Diversity will be offering a Safe Zone seminar, presented by Dr. MaryBeth Walpole from Rowan University. The session is designed to be interactive and allow participants to not only be presented with information about the LGBTQ community, but also reflect on their own ideas, beliefs, and bias. Regional Cooperative on Minority Faculty Development: First Annual Meeting | Faculty from CMSRU, Drexel University College of Medicine, Jefferson Medical College, Perelman School of Mediciine, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Temple University School of Medicine, and UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine will convene to create pathways for inter-institutional collaborations on minority faculty development.
