Donor-established scholarships allow exceptional students to achieve a CMSRU education regardless of financial need. Endowed scholarship funds are especially important in maintaining a foundation of aid available to students. Donors can provide highly qualified students with the chance to attend medical school, while giving incentives and financial security to continuing students, allowing them to focus their best efforts on their academic pursuits. Intended for students with financial need who have attended a K-12 school in South Jersey, this award increases the likelihood that students from our region will study, train and practice medicine here, and helps to address the pending shortage of physicians in our communities.
This scholarship is for those students traditionally underrepresented in medicine with financial need. The availability of Founder Scholarships will help to ensure that CMSRU attracts a diverse pool of students who are excited about learning and working in an urban environment.
Targeted to students who have demonstrated a commitment to community service, this award is for students who have performed 200+ hours of volunteer service prior to matriculation. Exemplifying all that CMSRU embraces, these students will serve as leaders in CMSRU’s community-based education model.
The Dr. Richard Meagher Medical Scholarship at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University was established in 2009 to provide deserving Rowan graduates with assistance in the first year of their medical education.
These scholarships typically honor a family member, esteemed colleague, professor or friend. Donors may establish the specific criteria used to award the scholarship. Endowed scholarship funds start with a minimum gift of $25,000.
By providing financial assistance to promising students in need, this award allows students to focus on their studies and decreases loan debt anxiety after graduation. Gifts of any size may be applied. General gifts for scholarships can be applied to any of the categories listed above.
