White Coat Notes: Support Our Newest Medical Students!

Student doctors have donned their trademark short white coats for decades, and the White Coat Ceremony is a celebrated rite of passage for new medical students at schools throughout the United States. CMSRU's Class of 2019 White Coat Ceremony will take place on Friday, September 11, 2015.

With a minimum gift of $100, you can write a note that will be placed in the pocket of a student's brand new white coat. Surprise a student - any student, or the specific student of your choosing - with a meaningful note of encouragement and congratulations on this special occasion!

All donations go directly to the Student Activities Fund, which supports clubs and student initiatives at CMSRU.

Second-year medical student Amanda Malik offers this reflection on receiving her White Coat Note:

“Receiving my white coat during our ceremony in September meant so much to me. I remember slipping my arms into the sleeves with a big grin on my face, and feeling the weight of the white coat notes in my otherwise empty pockets. Reading those notes provided inspiration before a challenging exam and courage before entering a patient's room on my own. A year later, the pockets of my white coat are now filled with a stethoscope, notebook, penlight, and other various tools of the trade, but I can still feel the weight of the notes in there as well, reminding me how lucky I am to be pursuing a career I love with the support of so many people.”

Our goal is to have 200 notes delivered to the Class of 2019. Not only will these notes ensure that our students have the funds necessary to support their various clubs and activities; they will even more importantly offer priceless memories, encouragement, and kind words to the Class of 2019.

For the first time, we are encouraging students from the classes of 2016, 2017, and 2018 to write their very own note to their peers for only $10. Please see Brittany Gottsch for more information.

The deadline to purchase your White Coat Note is Wednesday, September 9, 2015.
