McSiip

Mission of McSiip

McSiip stands for Mathematics, Computer, and Science Instructional Improvement Program. McSiip was originally established in 1984, with funding from the New Jersey Department of Higher Education, and now serves as an umbrella for mathematics and science education projects in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Rowan University.

McSiip's science and mathematics activities are designed to provide teachers with significant professional development opportunities of varying types and durations. Different projects are designed to address specific needs, especially for the southern New Jersey region. All projects involve teachers in hands-on activities that focus on implementing state and national standards, as well as discussions with colleagues that promote more reflection about instruction. Activities also address alternative assessment techniques, use of manipulatives and inquiry approaches, and increasing access to mathematics and science for all students.

Current projects include:
- New Jersey Statewide Systemic Initiative Regional Center at Rowan
- South Jersey Math Science Partnership
- Rowan Camden Math Partnership
