Rowan University Public Safety/Emergency Management
Welcome to the Department of Public Safety and Office of Emergency Management. I encourage you to visit our web page, browse through its sections, and if you have any questions or concerns, kindly contact any of our Section Supervisors for assistance at the below contact number.
Rowan offers a comprehensive public safety program for the university community. We provide services through the following sections: Police, Security, Crime Prevention, Parking, Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Mangement. We focus on preventive patrols, crime prevention programming, and the physical establishment of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design standards throughout our campus.
The department is fully accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) which administers a rigorous accreditation process whereby law enforcement agencies must adhere to over 494 standards, codes and state-of-the-art practices. Our department is the first University in New Jersey to receive this prestigious recognition, and one of 50 in the nation.
We often use the motto: “It is in your Interest!” because it reflects our effectiveness in maintaining a safe environment through the collective effort of everyone on campus. Participation in the programs we offer will enhance the health, safety and welfare of the Rowan Community.
Department of Public Safety Senior Director Reed Layton, Office of the Emergency Management Director Peter Amico, and I look forward to seeing you on campus and wish you a successful academic year.
