Description: The Rowan University Department of Public Safety is looking for 60 highly motivated students to work for the Student Community Policing Program. This program is a vital part of the Rowan University Community. As a practitioner for the program, you could serve in one of four functions: Residential Proctor, Academic Proctor, Safe Walk and Ride Dispatcher, and Senior Practitioner. All four of these positions assist the Rowan Department of Public Safety creating an extra awareness in the community. Students applying need to be of good moral character, dedicated, and be able to handle the responsibility of University Safety. Who We Are
Rowan University SCPP is a group of approximately 60 students who work under the Rowan University Department of Public Safety to provide basic safety services to the students of Rowan University.
What We Do
SCPP Members provide the following services to the Rowan University community:
- Safe Walk and Ride service that operates every night from dusk til dawn.
- Front-desk proctors in Mimosa, Evergreen, Triad, and Mullica Halls every night from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
- Additional proctors in academic buildings including Campbell Library, Wilson Music Hall, and Engineering Hall.
- Nightly checks of emergency phones to ensure working condition.
- Nightly patrols of academic buildings.
In addition, SCPP provides additional assistance at major University events such as move-in, Homecoming, and Graduation.
