Commencement 2014

Day of Information

Important Commencement 2014 update:
Undergraduate Commencement main ceremony moved to Wackar Stadium.

Until just a few days ago, the Rowan University community expected to celebrate the 89th Commencement with both Graduate and Undergraduate ceremonies on the University Green at Bunce Hall. As in years past, our May ceremonies include students who completed their degrees in August and December, as well as those graduating in May and those with a few credits to finish in the summer or student teaching to complete in the fall.

Unfortunately, we can fit only 10,000 chairs (2,000 students and 8,000 guests) on the University Green. Last year, we were beyond capacity, with standing room only for nearly 1,000 guests. This year, we planned to accommodate more by adding bleachers to the Green, but the number of students participating is expected to grow to nearly 2,500 -- adding many more guests, too.

We apologize for the late notice on the venue change. We struggled with the decision after years of tradition on the Green. The deciding factor was, however, our students and their guests. The academic milestones we celebrate at Commencement should be shared with as many loved ones and friends as possible. Fortunately, Wackar Stadium can accommodate 13,000 students and guests.

Graduating students, please remember to reserve your guests' main and secondary ceremony tickets at rowancommencement.universitytickets.com.

Traffic Notice: Route 322 will remain open on Commencement day. Police officers will direct guests to parking lots. Any road closure detours will be marked.

***Please note that the distance between parking lots and ceremony locations can be long and strenuous for elderly or mobility-impaired guests. Please visit here for more information on parking and seating and options for special needs guests. A handicap hangtag or placard alone will not guarantee priviledged parking. You MUST contact our parking office for a Rowan University-issued special needs parking pass.

Arrival

Because of heavy traffic and unusual traffic management on campus, we encourage you to arrive before 9 a.m. to allow time for parking and walking to the ceremony at Wackar Stadium. We also recommend that you consider one of the alternate routes listed below due to the exceptionally heavy traffic from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Route 322 East. The route you take to campus will most likely determine the parking lot or area where you will park for the day. Please use the route guides below to help you plan.
