Important Commencement 2014 update:
Undergraduate Commencement main ceremony moved to Wackar Stadium.

Until just a few days ago, the Rowan University community expected to celebrate the 89th Commencement with both Graduate and Undergraduate ceremonies on the University Green at Bunce Hall. As in years past, our May ceremonies include students who completed their degrees in August and December, as well as those graduating in May and those with a few credits to finish in the summer or student teaching to complete in the fall.

Unfortunately, we can fit only 10,000 chairs (2,000 students and 8,000 guests) on the University Green. Last year, we were beyond capacity, with standing room only for nearly 1,000 guests. This year, we planned to accommodate more by adding bleachers to the Green, but the number of students participating is expected to grow to nearly 2,500 -- adding many more guests, too.

We apologize for the late notice on the venue change. We struggled with the decision after years of tradition on the Green. The deciding factor was, however, our students and their guests. The academic milestones we celebrate at Commencement should be shared with as many loved ones and friends as possible. Fortunately, Wackar Stadium can accommodate 13,000 students and guests.

Visit rowan.edu/commencement often for updates and answers to frequently asked questions. Additional questions may be sent to commencement@rowan.edu.

Tickets

The Undergraduate Commencement main and secondary ceremonies do require tickets. Each degree candidate may reserve three (3) tickets for each ceremony.

Beginning May 9, unclaimed and donated tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Students may claim up to an additional three (3) tickets for both the main and secondary ceremonies. Please note: Students who receive extra tickets to the main ceremony are not guaranteed extra tickets for their secondary ceremony. We believe, however, that the new ticket pool will enable easy transfer of unused tickets to students who need more.

All tickets are reserved online, available March 15 to May 8, 2014.

Please visit here for more ticket information.

Meeting with your family

Because of the great crowds attending Commencement, reuniting with family and friends after the main or secondary ceremonies can be daunting. For those unfamiliar with campus, University staff will be on hand with maps and signs to help direct foot traffic. Graduates and guests may find it helpful to designate a location on campus where they can meet during the day. The parking area to the east of the University Green, between Oak and Laurel Halls and the oak grove behind Bunce Hall are well-suited for family gatherings and photographs. The University will also provide a Rowan-themed portrait station in the Student Center.
