Commencement is the voluntary celebration that occurs once a year (in May). Participation in the Commencement ceremony is not required and does not guarantee the awarding of a degree.
Students receiving solely a certification without an undergraduate degree DO NOT participate in Commencement.
The Commencement reservation deadline is April 17, 2015. This is the last day to confirm your participation and reserve your guest tickets. To confirm your reservation follow these steps:
- Visit Student Self-Service at www.rowan.edu/selfservice
- Access Banner Services and enter your Banner ID and PIN
- Select “Student and Financial Aid” and click on

Commencement Participation (Walking) Form
To be eligible to attend the commencement ceremony with outstanding degree requirements, you must meet the following criteria:
- Undergraduate students must be within 12 credit hours of graduating and/or the completion of student teaching.
- Graduate students (Master’s Level only) who have 6 or fewer credits to complete during the following Summer Semester (Please note that EdD/Doctoral students may not participate in the Commencement Ceremony unless they have defended their dissertation prior).
All students are responsible for retrieving and returning a completed Commencement Participation (Walking) Form. The processing fee is $10.00. Forms are available at the Registrar's Office.
Commencement Participation (Walking) Forms will be accepted by the Registrar's Office until March 13, to ensure inclusion in the printed program. No applications will be accepted after March 13.
Email will serve to congratulate students once their degree has been awarded (conferred). This email also states that the degree is now reflected via the Self-Service transcript. Delivery of the actual diploma may take between 6-8 weeks. **Please note, a diploma will not be mailed until all outstanding balances and holds are released from the students' account. Students should consult their academic departments to ensure immediate resolution to all outstanding issues. **
Diplomas are not received during the Commencement ceremony. The Office of the Registrar mails diplomas to the permanent address on file, unless otherwise indicated on the graduation application. A diploma and one official Rowan University transcript are mailed approximately eight weeks after the degrees have been awarded.
Detailed diploma information may be found on the Registrar's website here.
