Description: Throughout Homecoming week teams will be judged on their spirit level whether they are competing in events or cheering from the sidelines. Spirit level will be measured by team presence, use of the Homecoming PROFtoberfest theme, and overall Prof Pride. The winner of the 2014 Homecoming Spirit Competition will be announced at halftime of the Homecoming football game on October 18th.

Annual Banner Competition

Time: 5:00 p.m - 10:00 p.m, Judging starts at 9:00 p.m

Location: Student Center Back Patio (Rain site: 2nd floor Student Center)

Description: The Homecoming Banner Competition is a great way for Rowan students to show off their creativity and Prof pride! The banners will be hung in the SC Pit for the entire week to help promote Homecoming week, student organizations, and most importantly Rowan spirit. Participants can enter as a group or as an individual. All participants must walk in the Homecoming Parade on Saturday, October 18, 2014 with their banners in order to be judged to win. Participants must line up with their banners at the Barnes and Noble parking lot by 9:00am on October 18th to prepare for the parade. Winners will be announced during halftime of the football game that afternoon.

Annual Push Cart Competition

Time: 7:30 p.m

Location: Bunce Circle

Who can attend: Rowan University Community.

Who can attend: Anyone can spectate. Must be a student, staff or faculty member to participate..

Description: Will your team be the last battleship standing? Use teamwork, strategy, and buckets of water to sink the opposing team's canoe all while defending and protecting your canoe from the same fate. The event is limited to the first 24 teams that register. Rowan students, faculty or staff may sign up in teams of four. The competition will be divided into four matches. The remaining teams from those four matches will play in a championship match to claim the title of Battleship Champion.

Campus Clean and Green

Time: 11:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m

Description: This is a campus wide beautification service project. Students, staff, and faculty can volunteer one hour of their day to help clean up trash and debris around the main campus green before Homecoming Day. A greening project may be planned for another area of campus, at the same time.

Description: Rowan University invites Glassboro and the Rowan Community to celebrate Homecoming 2014 at the #PROFtoberfest block party! Food available for purchase will include fried pizza, meatball sandwiches, pork sandwiches, and German favorites such as potato salad, potato pancakes, knockwurst, hot dogs & sauerkraut, and bavarian pretzels. There will be German bands and dancers along with horse & carriage rides, a beer garden, craft vendors, and a kids’ zone with face painting, roasted marshmallows, and more!

Parking: Rowan Blvd Garage will be offering free parking for all attending the #PROFtoberfest Block Party! To utilize the free parking please follow these instructions…

  • Access the upper levels of the Garage by driving to the entrance/exit gates on Redmond Avenue and push the GREEN button to receive an entrance ticket.
  • Park your vehicle in any open space.
  • You can take the elevator or stairs down that is located closest to Barnes and Noble. This will provide the shortest walk to the event.
  • Remember the floor level and/or color of the area where you parked. Once the event is over, return to your vehicle and drive to the exit.
  • Insert the ticket you took to enter the garage into the exit station and the gate will be raised.

Free parking will be offered between the hours of 4:00pm and 12:00am. Parking past 12:00am will be subject to additional fees. Additional free parking will be available at the Main Street and Victoria Street lots.

Annual Homecoming Parade and Float Competition

Parade Route

Time: Line up begins at 8:00 a.m in Rowan Boulevard/Barnes and Noble Parking Lot for teams competing in the banner and float competitions. Parade begins to travel down Main Street at 9:45 a.m.

Location: Parade begins in Rowan Boulevard Parking Lot and concludes in Lot D, Skits and performances will start at 10:00 a.m in Lot D.

Description: The annual Homecoming parade is one of Rowan’s oldest traditions. Come join the Rowan University community as they parade around Glassboro to celebrate Homecoming Day. Candy will be thrown out along the parade route and free coffee stations will be located in front of Prime Burger in Rowan Boulevard, Edgewood Park apartments on Carpenter Street, and in lot D at the float performance area. The parade will conclude in Lot D, where student organizations will perform their skits and dances as part of the annual float competition.

Homecoming Tailgate

Time: 10 a.m – 2 p.m

Description: Set up a tent and bring out your grill for the Homecoming tailgate. We have a designated area and it’s open to the entire Rowan community, Alumni, family and friends. Join us to celebrate Rowan’s PROFtoberfest Homecoming and get ready for the Profs to take on SUNY Morrisville University. Clubs, organizations, and individual groups are highly encouraged to join the tailgate and celebrate homecoming. Groups are responsible for providing their own tables, chairs, and tents. Groups will not be permitted to fundraise or sell items of any kind. Parking is not allowed in the tailgate area (foot traffic only) from 10am – 2pm. Vehicles will be allowed into the lot prior to 10am for drop off only. All Vehicles must be out of the lot by 10am (no exceptions). Music will be provided from 10am – 2pm. No personal DJ’s or music from 10am – 2pm. Alcohol is strictly prohibited outside of the confines of the beer garden. PROFtoberfest Alumni Tent & Beer Garden

Time: 11 a.m – 2 p.m

Location: Lot C- Alumni Tent

Fee: Registration is free for each alumnus and one (1) guest. Additional guests are $10 each. Alumni MUST PRE-REGISTER prior to Friday, 10/10 to obtain free admission. Paid online registration is open until Wednesday, 10/15. Alumni will be able to purchase tickets at the door for $10 per ticket.

Description: The Rowan University Engagement Office invites alumni, students, staff, family and friends to gather outside of Wackar Stadium in Lot C for this year’s PROFtoberfest Homecoming festivities. Come enjoy an all you can eat German themed buffet, a Flying Fish beer garden, tailgating games, children’s activities, and a PROFtoberfest photo booth. Alumni and one (1) guest will receive FREE admission if they pre-register prior to Friday, October 10. All additional guests, as well as “day-of” registrations, will cost $10. Alumni are strongly encouraged to pre-register to take advantage of this deal! Families, friends and reunion groups can meet under the large tent or in the tailgating area.
