Upon graduation, Rohrer College of Business (RCB) accounting majors obtain challenging, interesting, and rewarding positions! Whether you’re interested in a career with a big firm, small firm, or even starting your own business, the RCB’s accounting program will help you achieve your goals. The RCB offers a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA with an accounting specialization.
Students will be exposed to the many areas of accounting including auditing, taxes, consulting, managerial, government, not-for-profit, information systems, and forensic accounting by our qualified faculty. Many of the Rowan accounting graduates pursue the Certified Public Accounting examination right after graduating and obtain positions in large and small firms in public accounting. Others find positions with large corporations, government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations.
Through Rowan’s mentorship program, students have the opportunity to be mentored by an accounting professional beginning their freshman year. They also obtain hands-on experience by obtaining internships. As an intern, they would work in one of the many areas of accounting while in school for at least one semester and earn credit. Many of the internships lead to full-time positions upon graduation. While an undergraduate, students also gain tax preparation experience through the federally sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. The students receive training through this program, so they may offer free tax help for those that qualify.
