Engineering Experiences at the Rowan University Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering

Middle and high school field trips to the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering can be scheduled by emailing engineering@rowan.edu. An engineering overview, building tour and a hands-on engineering project led by engineering students are typically included in the experience, but an engineering itinerary can be customized to your needs, based upon availability. Please note, transportation to and from the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering and lunch are not provided in this experience.

The Rowan University Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Distance Learning

College of Engineering students bring hands-on engineering projects and demos to the classroom through Skype and the Engineering Distance Learning Program.

Engineers Without Borders (EWB)

Outreach activities extend beyond the region, encompass the national and global community. Engineers Without Borders helps communities around the world obtain clean water, treat waste water, produce energy, improve shelter, and develop sustainable industries.

Project Lead the Way (PLTW)

A national program, Project Lead the Way partners with higher educational institutions such as Rowan to promote pre-engineering courses in the nation’s high schools, and provides an integrated math, science, and technology curriculum in the middle schools. Information on our PLTW conferences, high school design competitions, summer training and more can be found here.

Summer Workshops at the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering

Attracting Women into Engineering (AWE)

We invite middle school girls entering 7th, 8th and 9th grades to participate in one-day Attracting Women into Engineering (AWE) workshops that focus on hands-on engineering laboratory projects that include experiments. We strive to give children opportunities to explore multiple engineering disciplines while reinforcing the need for them to stay focused on science and math studies.

Boys' Engineering, Science and Technology (BEST) Workshop

We invite middle school boys entering 7th and 8th grades to participate in one-day Boys' Engineering, Science and Technology (BEST) Workshops that focus on hands-on engineering laboratory projects that include experiments. We strive to give children opportunities to explore multiple engineering disciplines while reinforcing the need for them to stay focused on science and math studies.

Rowan's Introduction for Students to Engineering (RISE)

Rowan's Introduction for Students to Engineering (RISE) is a three-day, non-residential workshop experience that features laboratory clinics, exciting engineering activities, campus and industry tours, and mentoring by Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering professors and students. Students from high schools throughout the region may work with chocolate, polymers, iPads, asphalt, wind turbines, bottle rockets, air cannons and music engineering during the hands-on engineering RISE workshop. In addition, a tour of the South Jersey Technical Park, including a virtual reality CAVE demo, is typically included in the RISE workshop.
