Why am I asked to make an annual commitment?

As a Rowan employee, you see firsthand the impact of private support -- gifts large and small have helped transform Rowan into the unique institution it is today. Your annual commitment helps continue the growth of your charity of choice.

When will I be asked to contribute to Rowan or any outside organization?

Rowan employees will be asked annually, during the New Jersey State Employees Charitable Campaign (NJECC), to contribute to Rowan University or any outside charity. It is also at this time that we offer the opportunity for Rowan employees to contribute directly to student projects and programs through our PROFfunder Campaign (November 1 - 30, 2016). If any employee gives to a PROFfunder Campaign , they will be counted as participating in the 2016 NJECC. Employees are also asked to renew their payroll deduction contribution during the NJECC.

Rowan employees are additionally asked to participate in RowanGives Day, an annual 24-hour day of philanthropy. This year's event will take place on March 1, 2017. It is during this time that the spring PROFfunder Campaign will launch and employees can make a double impact by supporting a student project or progam on RowanGives Day.

How long will the New Jersey State Employees Charitable Campaign (NJECC) run?

Rowan's employee campaign begins October 31, 2016 and runs through November 11, 2016. However, the NJECC runs from September 8, 2016 through December 31, 2016.

Where can I access an NJECC reference guide/code book for a list of charities?

Contact your school/college/department Dean/Chair and/or Administrative Assistant for a reference book. Books are also available at the Owl's Nest and Information Desk inside of the Chamberlain Student Center. You can also visit https://www.givingmatters365.org/_njecc/ for a list of charities.

Where will my gift go?

During the NJECC, your gift will go to the designation(s) of your choice. If you choose to support Rowan University, you may designate your gift to any area that reflects your personal values and interests. When giving to the Rowan University Foundation, 100 percecnt of your gift goes directly to the college, scholarship or program of your choice. If you select to support an outside organization, youc an choose from over 1,400 local, national and international charities.

How can I make a difference?

It is not the size of the gift but your participation that matters. Every gift reflects the commitment to Rowan employees and demonstrates to other donors the strong level of support from those who know Rowan best. Your gift offers you a way to invest directly in the organization's future and inspires others to do the same.

I would like to make a gift, but I'm not sure I can afford it. What are my options?

Payroll deduction is a convienient, virtually "painless" way to give. You can arrange to have a small amount deducted from your paycheck each pay period over the course of a year. That way, for hte weekly cost of a preimum coffee or a soft drink, you can be a Rowan donor. You can also support any area of Rowan University with a gift of $5 or more. Even $5 can make a difference to a college, student or program.

How does payroll deduction work?

Complete the payroll deduction section on the Employee Giving Form by specifying the amount you would like automatically deducted from each paycheck and where you would like your gift to be directed. Payroll deduction will begin with your January 13, 2017 paycheck.

I already made my gift this year. Will my gift count toward the Employee Giving Campaign?

For gifts to Rowan: Absolutely! If you have made a gift to the University at any time during the fiscal year (since July 1, 2016), thank you! Your gift and participation will be recognized as part of this campaign.

For gifts to other organizations: Donors pledge during the two-week campaign to support the 1,400 other agencies. Employees are encouraged to pledge every year -- your donation last year does not carry over.

How do I report my donation on my income taxes?

For a Rowan donation, indicate the Rowan University Foundation; for all other donations indicate the Employee Charitable Campaign. Your last pay stub at the end of the year is proof of your donation.

How will my participation be recognized?

All employees who contribute to the Employee Giving Campaign will be counted towards the overall participation goal.

If you designate your gift to Rowan, you will receive a thank you letter from the Rowan University Foundation and a keyboard sticker for your to display your Rowan Pride.

If you contribute to another organization, any additional recognition will come directly from that charity.
