First Year Student Experience

Your academic success is built on more than life in a classroom. Knowing this, Rowan fills your first year with the tools you need to create a community, develop interests and grow into your new role as a Rowan "Prof." It all begins during orientation where you will learn about your assigned advisor, meet other new students and experience living and dining on campus. Students in the Freshman Connection program arrive early to jump start their first year by participating in one of three tracts - Adventure, Leadership or Service. As your semester begins Welcome Week events will engage you in the diverse opportunities that Rowan offers, and, since most first-year students live on campus, the activities will continue through the first 3 weeks with the Start Up Smart program. Finally, it all comes back to the classroom where the required Rowan Seminar, with its smaller class taught by the best full-time professors, builds skills for Rowan success and provides the intimacy of a smaller school inside our large, robust university.
