Leaves of Absence
Any paid sick leave accruals must be used first for leave under the FMLA that qualifies for use of sick time. In addition, FMLA shall run concurrently with the first 12 weeks of any leave that qualifies under FMLA regulations.
An employee who is on sick leave absence for five (5) or more consecutive working days is required to submit to the Office of Human Resources acceptable medical documentation substantiating the illness. Also, on the day of return to work, the employee is required to bring to the Office of Human Resources medical documentation that includes the return to work date and any limitations or restrictions.
Employees submitting a medical note should ensure that the note contains the following information:
Any medical excuse not containing this information will be returned for the necessary details
Failure to provide appropriate medical documentation may result in disciplinary action.
This section provides informational fact sheets and the appropriate forms that need to be completed prior to the start of a leave of absence. Completion of the forms ensures all departments are properly notified and that the employee remains in proper pay status.
Lactation Center and Nursing Mothers Room
The Women's Center in the office of Social Justice, Inclusion, and Conflict Resolution (SJICR) at Rowan University is providing space for nursing mothers and lactating women to express milk during the day. This program is meant to provide privacy from coworkers and public intrusion as well as a warm, comfortable place to pump between classes or on break from work.
The Women's Center in Robinson Hall, Room 118 will be reserved Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The room will have access to a fridge for storage of milk, but women are expected to bring their own storage and pumping supplies.
