Introduction
The Policy covered in this documents mandates the terms
of use of the Student Public directory as set forth by the College of
Engineering and the Department of Instuctional Technology.
Student Public Directory Policy
By default, students have Read Only access to all files and data stored on the Student Public Directory.
A student working on a project that will require storage space on the
Student Public Directory may have his/her supervising faculty member
submit a request to support@galaxy.rowan.edu including the student’s
username and the directory to which the student needs full Read/Write access.
All data and files stored on the student public directory
will be completely removed from the Student Public Directory at the close of each academic year (over the course of the Summer Semester). This data will then be archived for a period of 1 year for back up purposes. However, It is recommended
that students anually back up their data from the student directory by either
writing to CDR or other removable storage.
In the event that a student will require his/her data
to remain on the Student Public Directory longer than the term of the
current semester (for projects that will persist annually or over multiple academic years), the student must have his/her supervising
faculty member submit a Request for Reservation of a Student Public Directory Folder (or send a request via email to support@galaxy.rowan.edu) prior the
end of the Spring Semester. Please provide specific details concerning the
exact directory in question and any student(s) that will need continued
access. All reservation requests are evaluated by the Engineering IT Staff. Approval for these requests are granted at the discretion of the Engineering IT Staff.
In an effort to conserve data storage space and maintain
a clean, efficient data storage environment, the IT Staff may request
that students archive some of their data to CDR or other storage media.
